The Coromandel Peninsula is a relatively unspoilt region in the North Island of New Zealand just a short drive from Auckland, and one of New Zealand’s most popular holiday destinations.
Renowned for its rugged landscape, bush and spectacular coastline, the Coromandel region offers many opportunities for walkers with a range of tracks from short coastal walks to multi day hikes. Marine activities abound including sea kayaking, fishing, boating, surfing and just enjoying the white, sandy beaches.
The Coromandel Peninsula also has a rich tradition of arts and crafts with many artists studios and a fascinating history with relics of gold mining & logging and preserved historical buildings.
The Pacific Coast Highway touring route links the Coromandel region with Auckland and Bay of Plenty.
Great New Zealand Coromandel Travel Guide includes accommodation and tourism services for Thames, Coromandel Town, Whitianga & Mercury Bay, Tairua, Pauanui, Whangamata, Waihi, Te Aroha and Paeroa.
